Magical maths

 Hello and welcome back to my blog today I will be showing my math for this week. My goal is:

Use a broad range of mental strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.

The strategies that we learnt were Tidy numbers , Place value and reversibility.

My favourite one was place value because it can solve some big equations and is simple to do. 

To do place value all you need to do is add the hundreds then the tens then the ones.

Book review the baby-sitters club (Blog 1)

          Hello and welcome back to my blog and today I will be rating the baby-sitters club boy crazy Stacey. In this series I will be rating the baby-sitters club books , I will not be doing them in order.

  

I like this book because the chapters are not to long and it is really interesting it just makes you want to keep reading and reading. Also I like book because they also offer it in a novel and Netflix has a series on the baby-sitters club. I also like this book because it has such good drawings in it. It explains so much and if you are not a reader then just watch the Netflix series. 

I recommend this book and there are so many other books so you don't just have read this one.

I think this book is for ages 9+.

I would rate this book 5 whole stars.

Hello and welcome back to my blog ad today I will show you my task that i had for writing this week. My story is called Left behind.

                                                   Have you ever been left by anyone?

Once there was a family that lived in a place called Auckland. The family’s last name was Barrett and there was a Dad called Jake , a Mum called Emily and children , Beauden and Brittany. Beauden was a famous rugby player and he played for the blues and the all blacks. Brittany was a 2 year old.

When there was a rugby game they got ready and Beauden had already been picked up by the all blacks van. When they had arrived at the stadium they went and got food , Dad got the hot dog , Mum got chicken on chips and Brittany got a hot chips pottle.

The game had started and Beauden had already scored 3 tries! After a while it was half time and Brittany was bursting to go to the toilet so Mum took her. when they were at the toilet block Beauden called Mum and while they were talking ,Brittany saw the candy floss and went over to the stand and stood behind all of the people then when Mum hung up and Beauden she looked down and Brittany was not there and then she was looking around she was not there.

When the game started again Beauden got a kick through the posts and they called his name out on the speakers then when Brittany heard his name she ran out and her Mum saw her and gave Brittany a big hug. When they got home and had dinner they were talking about the night then after they had finished eating their food they all snuggled up on the couch and watched the late filming of the game on T.V.

Email tips

Hello and welcome back to my blog and today I will be telling you how to make a good email.

First what you need is a greeting , These ones are the greetings you would probably use be dear or hi.You would use dear for emailing your teacher and hi for emailing your friends.Next you need to stay on the topic and don't talk about your camping trip you had in the weekend when your talking to your teacher about a math test.3rd you need to use your words carefully or someone might not understand and take the joke the wrong way.Lastly you need to put your name at the end even though someone has seen your email address.

Magnificent math

Hello and welcome back to my blog and today I will be telling you an easy way to solve times tables.

First for example if you had 8 x 96 it looks a bit scary but what you do is 8 x 90 = 720 then 8 x 6 = 48 Then you add 720+48 =768. This is what you call a place value method.It makes scary questions look better and this method makes you look smart as well.Just remember because it is a big number does not mean you should get confused.

Dear future self,

I am writing to you because my teacher Mrs Finlayson said write to your future self.I just want to know do you still like skateboarding because I love skateboarding.Also am I a silver fern with Molly.Did Dad pass his commercial pilots license.Did we move to rarotonga.  

Now I will tell you a bit about my time during the covid 19 lockdown. When I was in lockdown I ate a lot of food. Are you really fat? Lockdown was really fun.What is your favourite food? Because when I was in lockdown I ate a lot of microwavable pasta and 2 minute noodles. 

Am I still friends with Molly and Elsha?Do you still like speedway because speedway is the best thing in the whole entire world apart from my favourite rugby player in the world Beauden Barrett also who is your favourite rugby player?

Terrific Turkeys

Hello and welcome back to my blog , Today I will be sharing my summary from reading.

Turkeys live in big forests and like to be in big spaces. Unfortunately Turkeys are also food , Americans on thanksgiving usually have Turkey. Turkeys have very strong legs , They can run up to 30 ks an hour. Turkeys feathers are gold and green so they can blend in with plants in with the plants and forests.

Amazing ANZAC day facts

Hello welcome to my blog and I hope you are going well in lock down.
Here is article on ANZAC and world war 1.

ANZAC day was an official day on the 25th of April 1916 but the first dawn service was not held till 1923.The ANZAC soldiers are not just New Zealanders they are also Australians.The world war went on for nearly 4 years that is a long time to be fighting.The people who were not soldiers in other countries had stay home because it was dangerous to go out just like we are in lock down.

Slime masters

This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. We had to collaboratively create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions? We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.

I learnt that instructions need to be precise and clear and not have to difficult wording because little kids might want to buy your product.

Reflection on PBL:
For our Jolly Jars my group made slime. We made this because everyone likes slime and the theme that I did was Birthday cake.My slime was purple and had gold glitter in it. 

I contributed to my group by bringing the glue and activator for my group.I contributed ideas.My Ideas were piggy banks and card making.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because we designed some cool jars with tissue paper and sparkles.On the jars we had little tags saying the price which was $5.

What I learned about working with others was we all don’t think the same and have the same ideas and also you need to work together and co-operate and compromise.

How did we build community through our actions by helping fund raise for the school.
